Meet Your Dietitian: Jana Greene Hand, MS, RDN
As the child of two obese parents, I was raised in a diet culture that created confusion around weight and food. While my parents were well-intended and brilliant, they had no guidance on the “right way” to create a positive relationship with food.
Now, as a mom of two girls, I’m no stranger to worrying about doing the right thing. I worry about their sleep, their homework, their friendships, and of course, their nutrition. I’m highly motivated to not only educate my daughters on good nutrition, but to foster a relaxed food environment where they feel free to indulge without restriction while still being mindful to take care of their precious and unique bodies.
One of the things that has inspired me throughout my journey as a mom and dietitian is how driven parents are about wanting to do the right thing. I know how overwhelming it can be to feel hopeless, stuck, or worried about your child’s health and well-being.
While I enjoy working with kids to teach them about their own body’s needs and how to self-advocate, my real joy comes from working alongside parents to empower them to make the necessary (& simple) changes to create a stress-free food environment where kiddos can achieve their healthiest body weight and maximum confidence without food restriction.
This is why I created this easy to implement, 6 module, online program to help you create better food habits and nutrition strategy in your home.
From this course, parents will gain:
A proven nutrition strategy to help your child or teen feel full and satisfied from their meals and snacks
A game plan that promotes a healthy relationship with food away from restriction and guilt
The confidence that you are speaking about nutrition, weight, and body image in a way that fosters confidence and body appreciation without shame
The tools needed for open, honest, and productive communication with your child
Necessary nutrition strategy for other medically related conditions such as pre-diabetes, high cholesterol, and eating disorders
A roadmap to get your kids to try new foods
Strategy to combat your child's emotional eating
From this course kids and teens will gain:
Confidence in their own ability to self feed
Feeling more empowered in their own skin, likely moving towards a healthier body weight than they began
Freedom to enjoy balance without guilt
Motivation to make good choices for their precious bodies both with regard to food and physical movement
