Frequently Asked Questions
Where will my appointment take place?
All of our appointments are conducted entirely via Telehealth, so you can meet with us from the comfort and privacy of your home - or anywhere with a secure internet connection.
What should I bring to my first appointment?
Please be sure to submit your completed intake form prior to your first session so we can make the most of your time with your dietitian. We also ask that you provide your doctor’s prescription for our services (if applicable), along with any recent blood tests or lab results. For pediatric appointments, please include your child’s weight and height history from their pediatrician.
I’m uncomfortable being weighed… Is this a must?
Prior to your first weigh in (if appropriate) please let our office staff know if you do not wish to know your weight and we can record your weight "blind" and not let you see it.
What are your fees?
Please call the office (818-794-0048) for our most updated fee schedule.
Do you take insurance?
Like many RD offices, we do not bill insurance directly. Instead, we provide you with a superbill after you render payment on the day of service. We will give you instructions on how to best negotiate with your insurance provider for reimbursement. Your reimbursement level will depend on your insurance plan and your medical diagnosis, and our staff is committed to helping you achieve maximum reimbursement in any way we can.
Do you take interns?
Yes! Helping Hand Nutrition offers Dietetic Internships, nutrition rotations, and other internship opportunities for both bachelor’s and master’s students. Jana Greene Hand, MS, RD, has been a preceptor and/or mentor to dozens of students and interns through the years. Helping Hand Nutrition accepts students from most accredited programs, colleges, and universities. We are now also accepting applications from Distance Dietetic Internship (DDI) programs. For Dietetic Interns earning the supervised practice hours required for eligibility to sit for the Registration Examination for Dietitians, we offer eight to eighteen-week placements for either elective rotation, outpatient rotation, or administrative rotation. Please email your cover letter and updated resume (including your GPA) to internships@helpinghandnutrition.com.
